My First Book

Our dogs, Charlie and Sophie, brought joy and laughter into our lives with their rambunctious antics and endless curiosity.  We adopted them as puppies from a Border Collie Rescue and learned so much along the way!

Every walk and training session taught me something new, either about myself, the pups, or the woods and fields around our home.  I took many photos and notes about our experiences because life with two young dogs was completely for me, and I reveled in it.  Even then, I knew that someday I would like to write about them.

Fast forward five years to when Charlie suddenly came down with a health issue that could not be properly diagnosed.  He eventually stopped eating altogether, refusing even the tastiest of treats.  Just four months into his illness we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go.  I miss him.  We lost him too soon.  He had so much left to experience and share with Sophie and with us. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him.  A memory will surface that clenches my heart or brings a smile to my lips.  It reminds me of a quote by Dean Koontz, “Once you have had a wonderful dog, a life without one is a life diminished.”

So, I decided to do something outside of my comfort zone.  I will write about Charlie and Sophie’s life and adventures on our little farm in upstate New York.  Charlie will come alive in the pages of this book and will bring joy to those who read about his little, big life with his best pal, Sophie.

Thank you for visiting. Stay tuned!
