“Charlie and Sophie’s Great Escape” successfully launched on October 21, 2024, and my book is now out in the world! It’s satisfying to achieve a goal I set for myself one year ago. Even better, my launch will help Glen Highland Border Collie Rescue continue to care for dogs in desperate need. I donated all of the proceeds from my launch day sales to this incredible non-profit organization because they introduced us to our beloved Charlie and Sophie.
Founded in Morris, New York, in 2001, Glen Highland has provided safe haven to over 3,000 dogs, spanning all ages from puppies through seniors. Well-respected and noted for outstanding results when dealing with challenging needs, Glen Highland earned a reputation as a leader in rescue. I was volunteering there in 2015 when two special puppies named Charlie and Sophie came to the rescue. We ended up adopting both of them!
In 2019, Glen Highland’s focus shifted exclusively to meeting the needs of abandoned seniors. They became the only rescue devoted to senior Border Collies, providing long-term care for dogs with nowhere else to go. They provided the care needed to heal the trauma of abandonment, as well as the time and opportunity for someone to adopt one of these special dogs. Glen Highland also provides lifetime refuge for younger Border Collies with behavioral or medical challenges that make them unsuitable for a new home.
